I provide a friendly and supportive approach in my teaching with the aim of bringing out the best in musicality and technique in each pupil.
To make progress it is important to enjoy what you are doing. There is no obligation to do graded exams but, if you do want to do graded exams, I can guide you through the process.
I have prepared pupils for grade exams as these often can offer ‘motivation’ for students and a means for judging progress. I try to make sure that pupils are ready for an exam so that there is no undue ‘pressure’. For some though an exam can be a barrier to enjoyment. It is still possible to teach with a carefully worked out progression of music.
We all want to play an instrument because we want to make music and play a variety of tunes. My aim is that you can eventually learn tunes by yourself. It is not a success if you can only ever play pieces taught to you by your teacher. To that end all piano lessons will include an element of theory as you will need to be able to read music.
